'Tis The Season!

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM

This is the time to decorate the tree, make a list, check it over and over, talk to your kids –old and young- about being wicked or kind and to enjoy quality time, not quality gifts.

Be of service to yourself:

It’s essential that you do self-care first so that you can be available to your loved ones during the Holiday Season, and perhaps you will develop a practice of doing it the rest of your life.

It’s O.K. to say NO to other’s demands of you! When you draw healthy boundaries you do not only exercise self respect, but others will also learn to be respectful of you. This holiday season, do yourself (and your kids!) a favor and just say no. Giving up a few of the things you think you “have" to do, such as the bake sale, Christmas Pageant, etc. I assure you, it will result in a happier you - which of course- translate to happier kids. So, tis the season to take care of you first!

Take a walk out in nature to keep you grounded:

Breathe in through your nose, hold it for three seconds, and breathe out, as you exhale place your intention to release any heavy energy that does not belong to you. Take a deep breath in times of stress and let it all out; send all that heaviness to the center of Mother Earth. Allow Mother Earth to recharge you.

Sing loudly:

I love singing at the best of times but at Christmas it's a must to sing loudly while in the shower, while decorating -or even better- while driving. Singing Christmas Carols with my grandchildren is great, if you do not have children around, you can also sing to your plants, (they will not point you are singing out of tune).

Purify the air in your home with sage to clear heavy energy before and after the party:

If you've had a disagreement with someone and they are coming for Christmas, purify you abode, sage and clear the air before guests arrive. Bless you home with intentions of pure, unconditional love, compassion and joy; this is one of the greatest gifts you can offer your guests, a clear atmosphere free of discordant energy.

Don't lose your head With relatives:

Remember the Holidays only last for a few days so don't risk falling out with the whole family because of issues with one or more people you don't like. Exercise Essential Forgiveness, and if you find it challenging, call me, I will guide you: 818-823-8261.

Become aware and understand that in a spiritual sense, things do not happen to us, they happen for us, there is always a reason, a purpose and blessings are often in disguise. Ask your Higher Self for clear guidance and information.

Now you are ready to enjoy yourself and give your time:

When you do self care first, that means, (taking care of your needs resting, nourishing you) you will feel refreshed, restored and re-charched to spread the Joy of the Season. You may wish to take the time to visit grandparents, volunteer at your local charity of choice, even visit a hostel with the family to give some of your time or even just spend some time together as a family. Tis the season to reconnect to those around you, share the cheer and joy of togetherness.

Plan a family event that focuses on the gift of time. How many times have we all said “oh, how I wish there were more hours in the day! Just think of all I would accomplish!" We all have been gifted 24 hours, it’s just a matter of organizing, prioritizing and doing self-care first!

Celebrate the real meaning:

The essence of Christmas is supposed to be a time of getting together with family and friends and rejoice in life.

  • What is the real meaning of this Holiday Season for you and your loved ones?
  • Why not carry this meaning throughout the year -even better- throughout the rest of your lives?

May you and your family have a Joyous Holiday Season filled with great opportunities, new life perspectives, beauty, health and prosperity!
